End Times Follies

Daniel 12 KJV
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

I have had this sitting in my drafts folder since 2019/12/02. At the time I was thinking about the last verse “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” This fits perfectly into my recurring theme that the more scientific and technological success humans have had, the more likely we are to think we don’t need God to explain anything. Even though neither science nor technology can ever explain why. Never. Ever. Seriously.

But in retrospect now, post or perhaps mid-coronavirus panic, the whole verse takes on a different character. I am not a believer that we are in the tribulation now, but we are definitely in the end times. However, I frequently remind myself that Jesus could come back for us today, or tomorrow, or we might have hundreds of years left, or even thousands for that matter. No one knows the day or the hour. It is tempting to think that we live in especially chaotic or evil times, but if you read the Old Testament you will quickly discover that chaos and evil have been around since the beginning (or perhaps just after the beginning).

So pray, fear not, and try to be sober minded and use your God given common sense. And if you are able, stop voting for people who hate Jesus Christ.
