When you hear the word “deliverance” do you start to hear dueling banjos in your head? If you grew up in America in the 70s you probably do. A pretty disturbing film as I recall. A quick search of the Internet will show up the movie and the novel it was based upon, along with a slew of definitions essentially talking about someone or something being delivered. Look closely enough and you will start to see mentions of being liberated or rescued, but rescued from what? Let’s take a look in the bible
Luke 4:17-19 King James Version (KJV)

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
True deliverance is to be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
